New year

January 12, 2017
To spend the remainder of 2016 and the start of 2017 flying around on what, to me, were pretty scary rides at Disneyland Paris with my family was novel to me, to say the least! (I'm happy on the teacup ride)
But this wasn't just new year celebrations, it was also my daughter's 9th birthday. There was no teacup ride option for me here (God help me)! So I went with it.
I just shut my eyes and hoped for the best. Something I do with my writing, obviously not when I'm actually writing, but when I go to publish.
And now, with a newly finished book which is based on a true story, (details later) I'm about to go to publishing again. I'm always nervous but hopeful.  And I don't give up.
In fact, my daughter said to me on New Year's Day when she'd convinced me that the Tower of Terror wasn't terrifying; "keep your eyes open, Mum! Don't miss anything!"
And so I did, and it was ok. It really was. It was terrifying, but I did survive.
And I'm still here and I'm still writing.
I'm just writing :-)

I'm just writing...

May 17, 2015
Not much to report since my last post. Ten Yen Tokyo is still in the process of being published and I'm yet to start my new novel. However, my aunt and I feel like collaborating again, though not with another Ten Yen.
So I'm playing around with some ideas for that as well as writing my short stories (just posted the third part of Growing Old with Grace).
Beautiful day today so I'm sitting in the garden with my laptop and just writing, because...
well, just because :-)

Bye for now... x

The miracles continue...;-)

February 19, 2015
It's been too long since my last post but in my defence, I have been rather busy.
Ten Yen Forever was finally published on 29th December, yay! Slightly earlier than
the expected 1st Jan date but I've no complaints.
I won't have any sales figures until the end of this quarter but I'm hoping I've drummed
up some interest. Sales for Ten Yen True were at their highest in this last quarter so slowly
but surely, word seems to getting about.
Since my last post, I also completed Seagull, my second and la...

So many words, such little time...

October 7, 2014
Just a quick update as time is precious...

So I've now entered my 40th year and actually I feel good.
I had a fabulous birthday and didn't stop laughing the whole weekend.
Good times with good friends.

Work wise, I'll shortly be receiving the final edits from my publisher for Ten Yen Forever's
publication on 1st January 2015. I'm storming ahead with Seagull and I've a few
ideas for new projects too.
However, as this blog title suggests, finding the time for all of that is proving difficult.
Still, ...

The Ten Yen Series

September 5, 2014
Well once again it's been too long since my last post. Since then, I've been away for a couple of weeks, to Cyprus, which was very chilled. I've also been working hard on Seagull, a second collaboration with my aunt and the fourth book in the Ten Yen series.
Whilst away, my aunts book Ten Yen - The Making of a Monk was published. This is the prequel to Ten Yen True (our first collaboration).
A few people have asked when, how and who wrote what, so here's a brief explanation about the Ten Yen Se...

Tick tock...

July 27, 2014
Age is just a number right?
Only if you're too old to care or too young to know, in my opinion.
As I'm fast approaching a milestone birthday (the dreaded 40 in September) I'm not sure how I feel.
On the one hand I'm grateful for the experiences I have enjoyed and the confidence I feel, which as a 20/30 something year old I didn't.
And I love and admire all those women (and men) that say how grateful they are for every fun time that gave them another laughter line, but for me, memories should be ...

Normality is restored!

June 7, 2014
It's been a tough few months since my last post. My dad has been seriously ill so my writing and any kind of normality was abandoned for a while. I'm happy to say my dads well on the road to recovery. In fact he told me last night that he'd been looking at my website (Hi Dad!) and enjoying my short stories.
I've just posted another short story 'Willow Lane'. I've no idea where the concept came from but I was encouraged to write and post another after one of my Twitter followers got in touch an...

A new collaboration.

March 25, 2014
So a couple of weeks ago I was considering a potential new project with my aunt and now here I am right in the middle of one.
Seagull - An Impossible Love.
Shortly after my last post, my aunt emailed me the beginnings of this story and asked if I was interested in working together.
I read the few pages my aunt had written and instantly had so many ideas as to where this could go.
Those ideas have not stopped flowing from both of us and every day since has seen at least one chapter from each of us...

March 1, 2014
It's been a while since my last post. Mainly because of a technical issue that meant I was unable to and partly due to some personal circumstances that have meant I've been a little preoccupied.
Anyway, I've signed the publishing contract for Ten Yen Forever and am now just waiting to hear on a date for release. I'm also looking forward to choosing the front cover, so exciting! Woop!
Meanwhile I've taken on some freelance work. Just short articles really but it keeps me writing and hey I may as...

Happy New Year!

January 4, 2014
There's something about a new year that, for me, feels like wiping the slate clean and starting afresh with a blank page.
That's a little how it feels for me to finish a novel. It's almost as if I can say; "Right, you're done, it's time for me to leave you behind. I created you and nurtured you, now go out into the big wide world and do your thing." Haha!
The freedom to sit at my laptop with a blank screen is quite exhilarating and something that I'm going to do once I've finished writing this....
